Campus Circulation Concepts
Bicycle Routes and Parking
Bicycle commuting potentially could assume a much larger share of transportation at SFSU if conditions were improved by connecting the campus
directly and safely to existing city bike routes and providing ample bike storage. Two options are presented
here—one that creates a no-bike zone through the center of campus, and another that opens the major north-south pedestrian connectors to bicycles.
In the second option, the extension of the existing 20th Avenue bike route south through campus as a mixed-circulation/safety zone makes the campus
an integral part of the city bike network, improving access for commuters and neighbors alike. District-wide bicycle
improvements also are proposed.
